Nephew OD is a lyricist from Valdosta, Ga. A student of the game that truly appreciates the art and the culture of hip-hop, producing his own music and songwriting to create a style that is original with the fingerprints of the greats.
Nephew OD started his production label Just Works Productions with a two-person team, himself and his wife, artist Precious Love, in 2018. His first released mixtape, OD off Da Reefer was released in 2015 with over 500 downloads on DatPiff.com. Nephew OD released the Just Works Productions mixtape "The Proclamation" in 2019. His music can best be described as therapy hip-hop, because he explains that he uses his pen to release his frustration about life and find peace through perfecting his craft.
Nephew OD plans to bring something fresh to the game as an independent artist and help others do the same. His debut solo EP Light Work was released June 26, 2020, and is now available on all streaming platforms. He hopes this music illuminates the soul and sheds light on some real issues in today's world while staying genuine to the music. The long-awaited "Light Work" EP project is now available at all streaming platforms. Nephew OD has been growing and reflecting on his life concerning the music and the world to bring an honest and inspiring aspect to the world of hip-hop.
The Light Work EP is Nephew OD being vulnerable and letting the world know who he is as an artist and as a person. It's very authentic and very real. The songs on the EP are very personal.
About the song "The Light", Nephew OD says, "The Light is me expressing a time in my life when I needed to separate myself from the world in order to find time to work on myself and be the best person I can be, not only as an artist but as a friend, a big brother, a husband, father, and a man. Also, letting those ones close to me know that it's not personal, it's just, I want to better myself so that, you know, I can be, I guess, "good" whenever they meet me, because of the responsibilities that I have in my life."
